Simran Bhagwanani

A multidisciplinary designer exploring the intersectionality of innovation and concept-driven storytelling

Life is all about creating and exploring the depths of Art

  • I completed an 8-week design internship at Bharat Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., assisting in collection development, sampling, patternmaking, production oversight, and merchandising. I contributed to uniform design projects with NIFT for DFCCIL and the Supreme Court of India, developing deisgn proposals and leading visual documentation and presentations. I led a small team for a Gota Patti craft cluster in Jaipur, focusing on documentation and product development. I also designed and executed my graduate collection where I led a team of artisans, conducted cross-state sourcing, and managed the entire design process. Additionally, I worked on industry briefs with Samant Chauhan and Peachaus.

  • My creations are defined by the stories they tell. I find myself drawn to the unfolding to mythologies, imagined worlds and characters and then I translate the intrigue I felt into my work. I try to weave this dialogue into form through material exploration, fluid structures, and detailed craftsmanship. I find myself drawn to the interplay between control and expression, pushing artistic boundaries while maintaining technical precision, all while fine art remains an integral influence, subtly embedded within my work as a reflection of how I began my journey as a designer. Ultimately, my art of storytelling derives my creations.

  • Sustainability has been very integral to my academic journey. During my bachelor’s, I studied it as both an elective and core subject, covering environmental and social sustainability, including adaptive and inclusive design principles and user-centric design. I explored zero-waste patternmaking and responsible material practices. I also won an award in Spectrum for a sustainable garment made from post-consumer waste. I have also completed a student exchange focused on sustainability from STF Zurich, gaining insight into European approaches. During my master’s at London College of Fashion, I further developed sustainable design thinking, focusing on user-centred solutions and empathetic design approaches.

About Me

I would describe myself as a multidisciplinary fashion designer but at my core, I am an artist. With a background in leather and textile design, I have strong technical expertise across garments, footwear, accessories, and hard goods, with a focus on luxury and handmade processes. My work explores the intersectionality of innovation and concept-driven storytelling. I have a particular interest in sustainability, adaptive and inclusive design and emerging technologies in fashion. During my bachelor’s, I developed an award-winning graduate collection exploring the juxtaposition between sophistication and the avant-garde.
